Our concert was huge! I haven't got numbers, but that was a big audience, around 200 I'm guessing.
It was a lot of work rehearsing the music, but the concert iteself is a big job. So many choir members worked hard getting everything set up and beautiful, baking, making coffee, dragging tables and chairs around, and unpacking and placing poinsettias (they're even bigger than last year! Stunning!), and making sure we had programs and tickets for everyone-and there were so many wonderful people, beautiful happy faces and lovely voices, in the audience! What a great audience!
I'm happy that our music selections were well received and, although not flawless, well performed! Yes, you did great! Some of the little flubs were probably the weight of the responsibility that you were feeling. It's something really cool, actually, to be part of a big concert and to have people counting on you to do your part. It's a big deal, and you should feel proud of your efforts and the nearly perfect performance.
Yesterday, at Sharon Corners, I think the choir sounded even better than at the concert at times, even though lots of people were missing. The seniors' visits are always so much fun, and way less stressful. There isn't much time to worry about setting things up perfectly, or standing perfectly. Robin did the work to set up the visits ages ago. When we arrive, the audience is there waiting. The seniors are just so happy that we're there, and we just relax. There were a few moments of stress, though. The layout there was not the best, and I worried about that, and then we were interrupted by a visit from Santa. I was so mad! How could there be a fuss happening, people talking loudly, bells ringing, etc, during our performance?! I turned it around though, by inviting Santa to come and stand with us for a photo, and then started an impromptu serenade of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". Santa was a good sport and waltzed around the room with me for a bit, before I bid him adieu, "Bye, Santa!". Also, we were missing some sopranos, so I got to sing! It was fun. I do love singing.
I saw that someone has posted photos from the concert on our website. Thank you, Sou!!! I hope we get more, and I'm looking forward to having a photo of myself dancing with Santa!
I'm looking forward to next week at The Roxborough. One last chance to sing our stuff. Don't forget that you'll need to hand in your binders next week if you haven't already. If you miss next week, then you'll have to get your binder to Peggy's house. The spring music has to be ready for you in your binder when we start rehearsing again in January.
