Small Groups- lists

**Please note that these groups have changed somewhat since sign-up time.

The groups for Happy Holiday and Mele Kalikimaka are closed, because there is a limit of 10 for those, but we can have a few more for I'd Like to Teach. It can be a bigger group. So, if you feel that you missed your chance to be in a small group, we can probably fit you in there. Let me know, and Trix too, so you'll have music. / R

and register there. But, we are at capacity at the moment, I think. You might end up on a waiting list.
When you've registered, someone will contact you. Good luck! There are other choirs in Newmarket and Aurora that you can try as well. Sweet Adelines (York Highlands Chorus) meet here, and there are a few seniors choirs...

About the YRCC

The York Region Community Choir is a fun mixed choir of people who love to sing a variety of music in 2, 3 and 4 part harmony. We meet every Tuesday from 7:30-9:30 in Newmarket, Ontario at the York Region Administrative Centre in the Seminar Room just inside the North Entrance. (starting Sept.2023 again). For many years we met on Mondays.

We are a non-auditioning choir, and we don't enter any competitions. We share our music at seniors' homes and twice a year at public concerts. Sometimes we participate in community events.

We have a wonderful pianist, Donna Corbett, accompany us and help me to teach the parts and then bring them together. I use a baton to conduct.

We have an elected executive that runs the choir, making sure we're all where we need to be and have music, etc.

The choir started out as an inclusive offshoot of the York Regional Police Male Chorus in 1995. Read about it in my post about the origins of the choir. (Finally, in 2019, the York Regional Police Community Chorus began to include women and changed its name.)
